Old World Charm, Modern Love: A Wedding at The Monastery Event Center

Sarah and Spencer brought their vision of classic elegance and personal charm to life at The Monastery Event Center. From our first conversation, it was clear they cared deeply about creating a meaningful and beautifully designed celebration. I had the joy of designing their wedding stationery, starting with a romantic invitation suite that introduced their timeless aesthetic. Each piece built on that foundation, carrying their style from the ceremony at Holy Cross Immaculata Parish to the joyful second line parade through the streets of Cincinnati. Every detail felt intentional and well-loved.

Romantic Details and Refined Invitations

Sarah and Spencer envisioned a wedding filled with timeless elegance. I had the joy of bringing that vision to life through their custom invitation suite. From the start, we focused on making it feel refined yet personal. First, we chose soft sage envelopes. Then, we lined them with a delicate pattern to set the tone before guests even opened the card.

Inside, the invitation featured ornate gold flourishes and classic calligraphy. This combination created a look that felt formal, but still warm and welcoming.

Every element was carefully considered. The details card and RSVP insert repeated the same typography and palette. As a result, the suite felt cohesive and intentional from start to finish. Finally, we wrapped everything in a crisp white silk ribbon. The finished suite was simple, polished, and a beautiful reflection of their day.

A Meaningful Ceremony at Holy Cross Immaculata Parish

Sarah and Spencer exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Holy Cross Immaculata Parish. Surrounded by rich architectural beauty and an altar adorned with lush white florals and greenery. Together, these elements created a space that felt both sacred and serene. Sarah looked stunning in a sleek gown with a long train and veil. Every step reflected the quiet emotion of the moment as she met Spencer at the altar—a heartfelt tribute to their faith, their family, and the start of their marriage.

A Joyful Parade Through the Streets

Right after the ceremony, Sarah and Spencer brought the energy up with one of the day’s most unforgettable moments. They surprised their guests with a lively New Orleans-style second line parade through the charming streets of Cincinnati. A brass band led the way as they marched hand in hand, surrounded by their wedding party and loved ones. Everyone danced, laughed, and celebrated under the afternoon sun. This joyful and spontaneous moment captured their vibrant energy and set the tone for the rest of the evening. More than just a fun surprise, the parade created a seamless transition—from sacred vows to full-on celebration at The Monastery Event Center.

Cocktail Hour with a Personal Twist

To carry Sarah and Spencer’s elegant aesthetic into the wedding day, I designed custom paper details that felt both personal and refined. As guests arrived at The Monastery Event Center, they stepped into a lively cocktail hour. Signature drinks called “The Scout” and “The Marry Me” greeted them at the bar. Nearby, a hand-illustrated menu featured playful sketches of each cocktail, adding a whimsical, custom touch.

To complement the display, they had custom napkins printed with a sketch of their pup, Scout. This lighthearted detail added warmth and personality. At the same time, wax-sealed escort cards tied everything together visually. Altogether, these paper pieces brought cohesion, charm, and a little extra joy to the celebration.

Reception Elegance Inside The Monastery Event Center

The reception at The Monastery Event Center was a beautiful mix of sophistication and romance. Round tables were dressed in ivory linens and topped with gold chargers and soft white florals. Candlelight flickered across the room, adding to the venue’s moody, historic charm. At the center, a long head table glowed with pillar candles and lush blooms, set beneath the venue’s original mural walls.

To guide guests to their seats, I created a seating chart display using a large antique mirror, layered with wax-sealed cards for each table. It struck that perfect balance of form and function—elegant, clear, and completely in tune with the venue’s classic character.

Dinner, Dessert, and Delight

The catering team served a curated menu featuring pan-seared salmon and a fresh salad with goat cheese and cranberries as one of the guest meal options. Thoughtful design carried through every detail, from printed menus atop gold beaded chargers to neatly tied napkins at each place setting.

A dramatic floral backdrop, designed to mirror the tablescape, framed the cake beautifully. Sarah and Spencer cut their cake in a moment that felt both joyful and elegant. It was the perfect reflection of their day.
